A DevOps Engineer
turned digital nomad.
Who is Jeff K.?
I'm an expert in infrastructure engineering. Currently, I am at Caylent as a Senior Cloud Engineer, working remotely as I travel the world, though my home bases are New York City & the Los Angeles area in the United States. Before this role, I worked at Rackspace, Rcktshp, X-Team, Upside Business Travel, Red Ventures, Onica, and QuadraNet. I hold a BA in Sociology, with a minor in Urban Studies, from San Francisco State University, and have done PG studies in Global Justice at The University of Sheffield.
I consider myself a computer & cloud platforms specialist, a human rights activist, a keen enthusiast of psychology & law, a dog lover and carer, an observer of cities, an audience member of standup comedy and poetry slams, and am a seasoned traveller. I have been working with computers & networks since childhood, and have developed extensive skills in all things digital. When away from the desk, I enjoy walking around urban landscapes, trying out new restaurants, passively doing landscape photography, and travelling domestically & internationally any chance I get. So far, I have been to 46 countries and am not stopping any time soon. My current goal is to experience 50 countries by age 50.
I am a proud progressive interested in equal rights for all humans, and am inspired by the topics of: anti-repression, anti-racism, anti-war, feminism, socialism, drug policy reform, and immigration reform. On the streets, I have livestreamed various protests & rallies from various locations, such as: Oakland, Occupy Wall Street, and London.
I have completed courses in JavaScript, Node.js, and Python. I'm currently helping organisations migrate their application & infrastructure stacks toward more current technologies, such as by utilising services like AWS, Terraform, and Kubernetes.
